Choose a location which best suits your goals for study. Is it, to be near beaches to surf on the weekend? To be near a specific industry related location, such as a famous sports field? To be near a major city to have places to play at on weekends with your friends? A rural/regional area to experience the 'outback' or 'farm life'? Choose a location that suits your goals for the time you will be studying in Australia. Is Australia 'safer' than another country you researched studying in?
What do you want to do as a job when you graduate? What job can you see yourself doing for the next 5-10 years? Are you good at it? Or do you want to challenge yourself to try something new? After graduating, can you find a job easily in your country?
Not every school is the same. Do some research into the facilities - does the faculty of the subject you will learn have good resources? Is it a famous school which would be good on your Resume/CV? Can you afford your tuition fees? Take into account what is your personal view on "value for money". Some people think value for money is high tuition fees for high quality or famous schools, others may think value for money is medium ranked schools which still offer a good education, without a famous school name but with cheaper tuition fees. It is up to you to decide what you feel is your 'value for money'.
